Picton United Church is making its effort to help stem the spread of COVID 19 during this holiday season by making the decision to cancel both the Christmas Eve Carol Service on Friday, December 24 and our regular Sunday Service on December 26, 2021. We will be taping the Christmas Eve Service in advance so that it is available for viewing on YouTube.
Given the upsurge in new COVID 19 cases, with six new cases reported in PEC on Dec. 21/21, and the possibility of the OMICRON variant in the Hastings Prince Edward region, it is essential that we put the health and welfare of our community and members first.
The Christmas Eve Service will be posted on pictonunitedchurch.ca website and can be viewed from 5pm Dec. 24/2021 on. Check our facebook and website for news and further developments as they occur.
Resumption of regular Sunday services will be announced following the Christmas weekend. We will be continuing to monitor the new case numbers in our region, stay in communication with the Hastings Prince Edward Public Health and monitor all other government communiques throughout the Christmas holidays.
We are taking these steps now, in hopes that efforts to slow the spread will result in a stabilization in case rates.
If you know a member who is unable to access the internet, please give them a call and let them know of this change from on site to virtual service.
