Dear Friends;
Today is the first day of Spring! With the warm rain we’ll likely have green lawns very soon. If you are not able to get out for a walk today – at least take time to look out and watch the birds. Maybe you too have Snowdrops blooming?
This will also be an important day to reach out to friends and neighbours with a phone call. It is SO GOOD to hear the voice of a caring person when we are feeling alone and vulnerable and afraid, because of this virus.
But sometimes when the phone rings it isn’t a caring person – but someone trying to deceive and rob us. Yesterday, Carol and I each, at least a half-dozen times, received  calls with a recorded voice, claiming to be from the government, warning us of serious consequences unless we called them back about our Social Insurance Number! The OPP warn everyone:  “Don’t call back! Simply hang up. The people behind such calls are up to no good! They are trying to rob you!”
Many people have been victims of these criminals. They are very active now because of the Covid-19 crisis – with many of us isolated and alone.
Let’s remind each other. “We are not alone. God is with us.”
We are called to be the hands and feet of Christ. So make a phone call to a neighbour, family member or friend. Send an encouraging text, email or Facebook message.

We all want to make a difference in helping to stop Covid-19. The best advice, for everyone,  is to stay at home except when necessary to go out for essentials. (This only means staying away from stores as much as possible – it doesn’t mean you can’t go for a walk or sit on your deck.)
Until tomorrow, grace and peace,
Rev. Phil
